FGCU/Epsilon Nu Boule S.T.E.M. Academy

For over nine years, Epsilon Nu Boulé’ Foundation, Inc., has supported Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) to conduct a two-week STEM Academy on FGCU’s campus during the summers for mostly minority students from Lee and Collier County Public High Schools. The Academy has provided over 360 students with broad exposure to opportunities related to STEM, which increased their likelihood of being accepted into college; exposed them to practicing professionals in STEM fields; and created potential related internship opportunities. All while engaging them in ways of assisting in improving their math and ACT/SAT test-taking skills. Each class consists of forty 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students, who in their pre- and post-testing demonstrated significant improvement in both their math and ACT/SAT scores.

 

The mission is to improve our students' futures by increasing their exposure to opportunities in STEM careers to improve their math skills.  Many of the high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors who participate in our program come from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds and aspire to be first-generation collegians.
